As your County Recorder I will always strive to...

  • Improve Customer Service-   The turn around time for processing recorded documents is typically 1 to three business days and electronically filed documents are returned the same day.  I will strive to make turn around time within minutes.
  • Improve Office Efficiency-     Documents can be filed electronically (Implemented in July 2006.)  For customer convenience we also opened up prepaid accounts and we are working to add debit and credit cards.
  • Listen to Customer Needs-    We regularly take suggestions from the general public, title examiners, realtors, bankers and attorneys.
  • Improve Availability of Records Data-    Veterans' grave locations are now online for your viewing.
  • We are also working to make more land records available on the Internet, but not before they are masked of social security numbers.
  • Guard Taxpayer Dollars by Keeping a Lid on Expenses-            We cut indexing services costs over 36% since I took office in 2005.  Additionally, I have worked hard and will continue to work hard reigning in additional costs.  I have submitted smaller budgets and I have come in under budget.  In my three years in office, my general fund budgets have on average Declined by over 3% when the rest of Delaware Counties general fund budgets have increased by over 3%.
  • Help protect your identity by masking social security numbers on documents that are on the Internet.  My staff and I have reviewed and masked social security numbers on thousands of documents that are viewed on the Internet.

We are recording documents electronically!  We are currently recording most types of documents electronically including mortgages, discharges, assignments, easements and deeds!  If you are interested in electronically filing a document please call the Recorder's office at (740) 833-2460.

If you find a document online with a social security number, please contact our office at (740) 833-2460 and we will electronically mask the number.

It is the County Recorder's responsibility to make sure YOUR property records are properly indexed, indexed in a timely manner, and protected.

I routinely listen to those whom use the office regularly and seek their advice for improving the office.  I will be open to any ideas from customers and employees that may improve the office.

Recording real estate documents is very important.  Documents should be recorded and certified within a reasonable amount of time, (24 to 48 hours).

I am using technology where economically feasible to improve service and cut costs.

I am a full time hands on Recorder.
